One day, my new boyfriend asked about my sexual history. I’m not comfortable sharing that with him and managed to change the topic. I know he’ll pester me about it again in the future. Should I lie? – Holly, 21 PDF Print E-mail

If you’re not comfortable telling him the number of sex partners you’ve had, you don’t have to. You can say, “I’m sorry but I don’t think it matters. This relationship is about you and me, not who we’ve been with previously.”

Lets face it, not many guys can take it, especially if you’ve had more partners than him. And he might not tell you the truth about his own history either if you asked him back.

However, you need to reveal to him if you have any sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as it will make him aware of the necessary precautions to take when you have sex. It may not be pretty or comfortable and he might just end the relationship, but if he really likes you, he will accept you for who you are and do the necessary to keep the both of you safe.
