My calves are bigger than the rest of my body. What kind of outfit will flatter my body proportion and not make me appear stocky? - Linda, 24 PDF Print E-mail

fashion hide big calvesPick pants and jeans that flare just below the knee, such as boot-cuts and bell-bottoms. Avoid tight pants in clingy fabrics as that might accentuate your calves. Likewise, stay away from capris and cropped pants as they will draw attention to your calves and make your pins look stumpy.

As for skirts, you don’t need to confine yourself to long, flowy ones. Try A-line cuts that end at the knees to give the illusion of slimmer calves. The rule of thumb is no skirts that end at mid-calf and again, no clingy materials.

Your shoes, too, play an important role in keeping your body proportion balanced. Steer clear of stilettos, shoes with ankle straps and ballet pumps. Instead slink into open-toe heels that’ll divert attention from the calves or boots that go up to your knees.
