I just got a beautiful scarf as a present but am not sure how to wear it. Can you show me? – Elle, 24 PDF Print E-mail

Scarves are such versatile accessories. Just throw one on and your whole outfit is transformed! As to how to throw it on, it’s real easy but it depends on how long your scarf is.

If it’s the short square sort, you can try tying it around your neck as a neckerchief for that sassy French school-girl look or to spice up formal wear. First you need to fold it into half to make a triangle, then fold horizontally till it’s a long and tie it around your neck.

Bigger triangle scarves (like the houndstooth ones) can be tied at the end and adjusted around your shoulders. You’ll instantly have that effortlessly cool look, exuding street chic.

Long scarves or shawls give the most options. You can loop it around your neck, tie it in front or just throw it around your shoulders to keep warm. (Refer to the first picture on this page too for ideas)

You can also use the scarf as a head band, a sexy pareo to wrap around your bikini bottom or even as a belt! The options are limitless. Just try it out and mix it around to see what suits you. If it’s a patterned or colourful scarf, it’s best to stick with a plain top.
