To appear taller, try the following tips:
Wear fitting / tighter clothes
When you wear fitting clothes, they emphasise your body shape and lines so you appear longer. Baggy clothes will just drown out your small frame and make you appear even shorter. On the other hand, you can still pair an oversized or flowy top with tight jeans or leggings, which will equally make you appear taller.
No flats!
Although flats are more comfortable, heels will elongated your legs and give the impression that you’re much taller than you actually are. As such, slip in to a pair of heels, pull on your dark skinny jeans – it creates the illusion of length along the lines of your legs to the heels – and you’ll look immensely taller.
Capris are a no-no
Cropped shorts, capris and skirts that end mid-way through your calves or on your ankles will make your legs appear short and stubby. Wear skirts and shorts that stop above your knees or shorter. If you’re uncomfortable showing so much skin, you can always wear dark tights or leggings under them.
Opt for dark colours
As you probably already know, darker colours make you look slimmer. The good thing is it also makes you appear taller!
However, at the same time you can draw attention to the longer and slimmer parts of your body (e.g. legs, waist) with bright clothes and match it with a dark top or bottom.
Long is the way to go
Wearing longer shirts or tops (ones that go past your belly button till your butt) can make your torso appear longer, thus taller. Tops that fall around your waist make it appear shorter than usual.
Layers, layers, layers
If you’ve always liked to layer your clothes, then you can use this to your advantage. The rules to a taller you: Outer layer should be in a darker shade as that’s the first thing that people will look at and to layer with V-neck tops because that will elongate your upper body.
Mane issue
The length of your hair also plays a role in the height factor. If you have very long hair (say, till your waist), you’ll look weighed down. Shorter hair gives you a taller appearance because it lengthens your neck.
