I love wearing bright eyeshadow shades but the first few times I tried, it kept fading off and creasing after an hour or so. How do I prevent that? - Steffi, 19 PDF Print E-mail

There are two things you need to identify here: What is your skin type? And are you using the right texture of eyeshadow for your skin type. Too dry the shadow won’t stick, too oily and the colour will crease. For smooth application and longer-lasting wear, moisturise with an eye cream (for dry skin) or eye gel (for oily skin) followed by applying an eye base or oil-free foundation. Likewise, use a cream-based shadow for dry skin and a powder-based one for oily skin.

Skin discolouration and dark circles under the eyes can undermine your best efforts at applying eye make-up – the colours look faded and you look beat. To remove the fatigued look from your skin, dot a little concealer under your eyes after foundation, taking care to blend thoroughly before finishing with a dust of powder to set.
