I’ve been toying with the idea of chopping off my locks and getting a bob. Is there a way to tell if it will look good on me before cutting it – besides using photo-imaging software? – Tammie, 19 PDF Print E-mail

Getting a bob cut

Before you jump the gun, try this little trick that won’t cost you any money! First, tie your hair into a high pony then fan the lengths so you can frame your face and see what a short do would look like on you.

If you like what you see, consider bringing examples of cuts that you can nick from magazines or from the Net, so your stylist gets an idea of what you have in mind. Be sure to choose models or celebrities that have a similar face shape (and if possible hair texture as well) to yours.

Tips:

- Avoid a blunt bob if you have thick, coarse hair as the texture will create a pouffy mushroom effect.

- You have fine hair, ask your stylist to give you layers around the crown to create more volume, so you look as if you’ve been blessed with a thick mane!
